The Evening Woodworker
United States
Приєднався 5 бер 2016
My name is Jared. I am an engineer by day and a woodworker by night... usually after the kids are in bed and before the neighbors call the cops!
This channel is about all things woodworking. I do project build videos, how-to videos, shop setup and shop layout videos, tip & tricks, and tool reviews of the stuff I'm using. I will also show you how I organize and work in my small shop in 1 bay of my garage. If you want to improve your woodworking and get inspired with some creative projects and innovative designs, come join me as a fellow evening woodworker and let's go make some sawdust!

Woodworking tools are powerful and fun, but can be very dangerous if you don't create some personal rules and guidelines to keep yourself safe in your workshop. These are my personal rules that I follow every time I am using a power tool. This applies to tablesaws, bandsaws, jointers, routers, or any other sharp tool you may be using. What is the cleanup tool used at 6:57?
I take it none of this matters in rough construction since stuff is nailed and screwed with no regard for direction of the grain all the time.
You should void using pocket screws as much as possible. Good joints will work better for you in the long run.
i especially love your storage ideas!
Great job !
here is a tip Don't wear a ring....
Geez! That's a whole lot of planning, work, and high-tech equipment for a bunch of simple measuring cups!
Yeah but now I can justify my tools!
Now it just needs a stop bar at the back so they don't all slop out of place when you close the drawer with enthusiasm.
The angle that they sit on actually holds them in place really well!
or write the labels on the cup
That works too
For a second, the laser engraver sounds very excited. Woooooo! Also, adding the labels is a huge upgrade - I usually can't read the cruddy little engraved marks on my measuring cups.
Omg! Just take a cup, and pour it with 1\2, or 1\3 or whatever!
The Cell phone amplify is awesome. I have plenty of scrap cuttings. This is really inspiring.
Thanks, now you have a use for your scraps!
What about making a whole for a handle?
Not a bad idea... we'll see on the next one.
How tall is the pivot?
What's that timber please? Mahogany maybe?Looks lovely.
Thanks! It's black walnut
Are you going to chuck that Spear?
It looks scary, but that wood tip isn't going to last long in a fight!
That's not diy lol.
Im having a heavy flow ...like can't wear khaki pants heavy
Great idea brother 💯🫡
Thanks!
I use ny table saw to cut bread much faster.
Haha! Haven't tried that one yet!
Great thinking, that's a good idea
I like the idea, I just can't lose the drawer space!
Yeah that's the hard part... you gotta have enough drawers
I have just discovered your channel. Watched several video.truly well done. Just subbed. Only the second woodworking channel I have compelled to do it. Great job.
Thank you! Welcome aboard!
Use a domino for your 45 degree frame it’s much stronger.
Don't have one... maybe someday
Very cool🤯
Can the edge of the bench hook help you get a straighter cut?
Yes! That can be a guide for your saw.
That's why i only use square ⬛ dowels and then force them into a round a round hole! 🕳️
That's a good way to get a really tight fit!
Brilliant...liked and Subscribed
Thank you sir!
Works either right side up or down…
Exactly! Dummy proof!
OP which lego set is the roller coaster ? TIA
It's from 60228 Deep Space Rocket and Launch Control
that's an amazing and fun way to build a catapult and it even helped me fix problems with mine not releasing
Thanks! I'm glad it helped... there was a lot of trial and error to get it to work right!
AGREE
The Laguna has a 2.5HP motor and your comparing it to a saw with a 3/4HP motor. That HF bandsaw is holding its own.
Это всё, конечно, замечательно, но подобные поделки из дерева - прошлый век. Интересно, насколько дешевле и быстрее будет сделать то же самое на 3d-принтере?
You could 3D print, but for the cost, wood is cheaper and looks nicer in my opinion
Like the tape measure trick!
Bread board is awesome
Thanks!
As someone about to use pocket holes for the first time, and on an expensive piece I'm making, this is gold! Thank you. I especially liked the view of the screw in the exposed/cut open slot so I could see where the pilot hole was located.
Great! I'm glad it helped
WOW, nothing so useful as a handy man/woman in the house!!! Wish I had such a handy man around!! GREAT JOB!!!! Love to you and the family from old rebel-Pinkie
Thanks 👍
What do you think this cost versus buying Bora wood storage devices for $50?
If you already have scrap wood, then it's free!
Hmm --- what if someone attached the blocks so that the end grain was facing our, like the same direction as the support arms? Fatal flaw or just marginally less strong? Asking for a friend...
Not terrible, but I'm sure it reduces the weight capacity a bit.
I actually don’t have small part organizers for bits like you do. I use them for LEGO pieces. I really like what you did. I’m currently using IKEA IVAR system shelving.
Jared, great organization ideas. Such thought out ideas, especially the bread board!
Thank you!
Where is the guard for your bench saw. Dangerous dude.
It sounds interesting. But if you take a step backwards, how many hands do you have to use so many pens...? Can you just limit you to 2-3 pieces with different characteristics? And for you Clamp rack 4, you could rather make the same holding type as the rack 2 and 3. The current design force you to close the clamps for every storage. Otherwise some cool ideas to take with.
The clamp racks were kind of creative challenges to make each one different... and the pens are always getting left somewhere so it's good to have extras!
Knew most of those. However that tape measure hack is awesome. 😂
B-17 next?
Good idea!
Thank you so much for sharing man did this ever get the woodworking juices flowing
No problem! Good luck
Love them all I now have more on my honey due list.
I love this so much I’m trying to build it now. Could you give me the dimensions of the trees? I’m having a hard time seeing them in the video 😊
Dude…who has all those gorgeous tools in their work shop? I’m so jealous!
Just gotta start one at a time... and try to sell some stuff you make too!
